A Force More Powerful

A two-part three hour series, A Force More Powerful reveals how millions chose to battle the forces of brutality and oppression with nonviolent weapons — and won.

Over the course of two years, Steve York and his production crews crisscrossed the globe to capture the stories of the 20th century struggles that transformed the American South, South Africa, India, Poland, Chile, and Denmark.

Translated into more than a dozen languages and screened globally and banned in multiple repressive regimes, this series has been a learning tool for activists strategizing for democratic change around the world.

Featuring: Rev. James Lawson, Rep. John Lewis, Diane Nash, Mkhuseli Jack, & Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

Originally aired on PBS in 2000
